‘Tinubu Is the Angel Sent to Fix Nigeria’ – Yahaya Bello Declares in Kogi

Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has declared President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the “angel” sent by God to rebuild Nigeria, backing his bold economic reforms and vision for a new Nigeria.

Speaking on Saturday at a rally in Lokoja, organised to endorse both President Tinubu and Kogi Governor Usman Ododo, Bello urged Nigerians to stop waiting for a miracle and instead rally behind Tinubu’s administration.

“We will not wait for God to send an angel with wings to fly into Nigeria to fix it,” Bello told a cheering crowd. “The angel is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

The rally, aired live on TVC, marks a major show of political support as the build-up to the 2027 general elections quietly begins.

Bello pointed to several key policies rolled out under Tinubu’s leadership as signs of real change—such as the removal of fuel subsidy, student loan schemes, and the floating of the naira.

These, he said, are part of a roadmap towards a stronger, self-sufficient economy.

“We all wanted a new Nigeria. A Nigeria with no fuel subsidy, student loans, and free markets. Well, it’s happening now. This is the change we asked for,” Bello said.

Though these reforms have come with hardship for many Nigerians, Bello urged patience, stressing that no administration can fix decades of decay overnight.

Bello, who governed Kogi State from 2016 to 2024, said the focus shouldn’t just be on re-election, but on building a lasting legacy for Nigeria.

“Leadership without legacy is zero,” he said. “We want Mr. President to leave a lasting impact that people like us can continue.”

Bello also reflected on his own time in office, describing his political journey as a source of pride. “I feel fulfilled. These are my legacies. Some of them are right here watching me.”

While Tinubu has not formally declared for a second term, this strong endorsement from a northern ally like Bello is a clear political signal.

Observers note that this kind of rally positions Bello as a key voice in Tinubu’s 2027 re-election machinery – especially in the North Central region.

President Tinubu’s reform agenda, though controversial, continues to earn him praise in political circles, with supporters arguing that painful sacrifices today will lead to gains tomorrow.
