House Spokesperson, Rep. Benjamin Kalu, has congratulated the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia, Dr Azubuike Onyebuchi on his elevation to the status of a full Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology by the Alex Ekwueme University, Ndufu Alike, Ebonyi State.
The legislator representing Bende Federal Constituency was full of praises for Dr. Onyebuchi whose elevation he described as testament to the fine quality of the men and women of Abia extraction. He described the CMD as focused, integrous, hardworking, and highly cerebral, qualities which he highlighted as the reason for Dr. Onyebuchi’s achievements at such a youthful age.
According to the Spokesperson,
“Dr. Onyebuchi is doing a lot of things in FMC Umuahia. He has reinvigorated the federal establishment serving the entire Abia State and environs. He introduced a new standard of service delivery at FMC which is little wonder that the establishment was chosen to accommodate the Sovereign Wealth Fund’s ultramodern diagnostic centre.
I recall the dedication with which he worked to safeguard the public health of Abians, during the thick of the Covid-19 pandemic last year. Dr. Onyebuchi pulled all stops to ensure a smooth partnership between my constituency office and the emergency response team at FMC Umuahia to train select Bende healthcare personnel on World Health Organization approved guidelines for preventing the spread of Coronavirus which went on to manage the COVID-19 Special Desks in health centres across Bende. These interventions, among others like the isolation centres built under his watch, played a vital role in inhibiting the impact of the pandemic in Abia State.
Clearly, Dr. Onyebuchi has not only earned this elevation by his academic prowess, but also by his empathy, diligence and spirit of excellence in public service. He is a sterling example and a role model to youths in Abia State.
I am elated at his full professorial status and wish him great accomplishments ahead.”
