Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu as the helmsman in the Green Chambers….
Whenever the biopic of Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, member HoR representing Bende Federal Constituency, is eventually scripted and produced, the most suited person to play the character of Hon. Benjamin would deservedly be, of course, Hon. Benjamin himself.
This may be due to the rarity of the likes of the Hon. member in our present generation of political actors.
As Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, makes his signature bold bid to the leadership of the Green Chamber as the Speaker, he may have also inadvertently shaken the dilapidated and unstable ethnopolitical structures that had supported and sustained incompetence, ineptitude, and leadership failures in our nation’s polity.
The cowardly attacks on his person and the campaigns of calumny that attempts to impugn his character, are all glaring pointers to his unarguable qualification as the most suitable candidate for the job.
After all, men hardly throw stones at baren trees.
I make bold to assert that the foremost considerable factor in the choice of the House Speakership is the verifiable active legislative presence of the aspirant in his or her constituency.
Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu is the most active and result-oriented legislator in the history of representative leadership, east of the Niger.
A true political leader must have first “spoken” for his constituents, before aspiring to be the speaker of the HoR.
While Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu’s extra ordinary performance as the Spokesperson of the Green Chamber stood him out as a detribalised generational leader and committed pan Nigerian, it is his genuine love for the welfare of his people, exemplified through his never-before-seen impactful leadership, that mostly qualified him for national leadership…as the next speaker of the HoR.
Expectedly, numerous sociopolitical groups have spoken openly in support and indorsement of Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu’s candidacy, but the deafening applause of support and indorsement from tens of thousands of men, women and youths from Bende Federal Constituency, remains the most heartwarming.
A brilliant lawyer and skilled manager of people, Hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu, as the Spokesperson of the HoR, skillfully harmonized the dissenting voices and factions in the Green Chamber, to create through outspoken constructive engagement, a common voice and leadership purpose for the overall development of representative democracy in Nigeria.
Only a true “Oracle” can achieve this feat, in the face of the unhealthy rivalry that often pervades the Green Chamber.
Whatever the South East stands to gain when Hon. Benjamin becomes the next speaker of the HoR, Nigeria as a great country, stands to gain even more, when the “Oracle” assumes leadership of House to deploys his skills, brilliance, knowledge, integrity and firm grasp of legislative dynamics, in the service of his beloved people.
