Mahatma Gandhi a famous philosopher once opined that, ‘’the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.’’ And this position cannot be far-fetched in the giant strides and servant leadership styles of Hon Benjamin Kalu, the house committee chairman on media and public affairs, the spokesman of the Nigeria’s green chamber as well as member representing Bende federal constituency at the national assembly Abuja, having made an indelible mark on the sands of time as the parliamentarian now brings government closer to his people and the people closer to the government which historically was never anticipated to be achievable by the previous representatives of the council as the greater percentage of bendelites has since lost hope in quality representation and accountability in leadership.
The case of Bende local government area is a justifiable position and narrative which must be adopted to stand as a moral compass and position that Abia my state of origin and indeed Nigeria will one day produce a leader whose interest will never and can never suppress that of his people if we all sacrifice our personal parasitic political ambition and tenaciously hold on to the views of democratic tenets and ideology which historically affirms that societies develop over time as a result of selfless commitment and sacrifice made by her citizens and movers of her destiny inline with the mandate of such societies.
The emergence of Rep Benjamin okezie Kalu undoubtably heralded an enviable and prestigious moments in the history of Bende federal constituency having justified the numerous relentless supports and solidarity availed to him by the ordinary people of his constituency through projects, empowerments, job creation and all manners of support needed to develop any meaningful society, in fairness Chief Kalu has remained a very committed humble and charismatic servant of his people having stood out in the business of the nation’s law making by providing necessary intellectual capacity and disposition required to rejig our already tensed and trouble society.
The acceptance speech of this great leader after the 2019 general elections undoubtably Dramatized my perceived views about his candidature and nomination for the highly respected positions amongst bende people having openly congratulated his opponents in the race with share humility, utmost regards and respect informing all and sundry that he will remain a servant to the people of his constituency pointing that his victory is divine as well as peoples mandate, Kalu further went on to eulogize the tremendous efforts of his opponents at pursuing a renew and improved bende of our dreams noting that every bende remains a winner a position his still holds till date by constantly reminding those who ever goes closer to him that power belongs to the people an such must be approved by the people.
But the naysayers never analyzed my opinion to this effect, our brothers on the other side felt very reluctant at reasoning beyond petty sentiment , they never believed the greater percentage of bendelites got it right in 2019 general elections, on the other hand I do not totally alienate them from the realities of ugly experience’s and painful years of under representations of the people, that era represents the dark side of our peoples political history, it was an era married by naked uncertainties and gross maladministration which must not be allowed to take a turn on bende people again, the reinventing of such era must be brutally and totally rejected by all lovers of bende who cherishes quality representation and sanctity of stewardship as the area now celebrates leadership driven through passion , accountability and respect to our traditional institution’s as we await more greater years ahead.
For those who do not know and doesn’t care to know I humbly urge you people to retrace your ugly steps and take side on the positive side of history as we collectively embark on this journey of continues improvement of the delipidated aged stricken infrastructures lying desolate within bende while at the same time I humbly bow out of good conscience in appreciating the prestigious views of Chief John Okeiyi Kalu the Abia state commissioner for information who recently described honorable Ben Kalu as a progressive and outstanding legislature whose character and personality portrays civility, humility and commitment to service pointing that Rep Ben Kalu has conferred an enviable status on the people of Bende and Abia state in General.
