The Imo State Government had finalised a strategic healthcare partnership with Integromed Germany for the purpose of elevating the State’s medical services to international standards, training local healthcare professionals, and laying the groundwork for medical equipment manufacturing within Imo State.

DrumAfricanews reports that at his Boardroom on Monday, Governor Hope Uzodimma received a delegation of the doctors and medical specialists from Germany led by the Managing Director of Integromed Germany, Dr. Soliman Ibrahim.

Uzodimma in his remarks noted that while his administration had invested substantially in medical infrastructure, “professional operational management remains crucial to achieving the desired outcomes.”

He said under the agreement, the Germany team will provide technical support and capacity-building to the Heartland Hospital Management Corporation, including specialised training for medical personnel, doctors, and clinical trainers.

”Our hope, at the end of the day, is to begin to even manufacture medical equipment in Imo State,” Uzodimma stated, expressing confidence that “adopting proven Germany operational standards will drastically improve local healthcare delivery, create jobs, train the trainers, and reverse medical tourism.”

Earlier while introducing his colleagues drawn from different sections of medical field, Dr. Ibrahim reiterated Integromed’s commitment to an enduring collaboration that goes beyond project execution to deep knowledge transfer.

”We are here for a long-lasting partnership between the Germany healthcare system and Imo State to leverage quality and services,” Ibrahim said, adding that he was deeply impressed by the State’s modern healthcare infrastructure and the administration’s drive for rapid action.

Elaborating on the immediate operational roadmap, a member of the delegation, Dr. Delonger, disclosed that the team will initially focus on a joint pilot scheme across five hospitals in Imo State to optimise operational structures, streamline processes, and empower local health workers.

”Our goal is not simply to bring solutions from Germany, but to work together, share knowledge, and develop sustainable solutions that meet the specific needs of the people of Imo State,” Dr. Delonger remarked.

    The delegation comprises doctors
and nurses, and particularly, specialists/consultants in pediatrics, general practice, anesthesiology, intensive care, and internal medicine, who collectively expressed gratitude to the State government for the platform to contribute towards transforming Imo State into a regional, if not national healthcare hub.

The resumption of medical consultants and other healthcare professionals from Germany in the State’s medical facilities, has further boosted Imo State healthcare sector.

Their resumption, expected to make Imo State the preferred healthcare tourism destination in Nigeria in the days ahead, came few weeks after the State witnessed the first robotic-assisted surgery East of the Niger at a newly built Imo State Robotics and Oncology Centre (IROC) by the Governor Uzodimma’s administration.
