The Traditional Ruler of Umuobom Ancient Kingdom in Ideato South Local Government Area of Imo State, His Royal Highness Anayo Callistus Mbionwu (Edenigbo I, II & III), has publicly dissociated the kingdom from an alleged car-snatching suspect recently arrested in Nkpor, Anambra State.
In an official disclaimer, the monarch clarified that the suspect, identified as Chimezie Eze from Abukwa Village, has no affiliation with the traditional institution beyond his ancestral origin.
He firmly dismissed reports suggesting that the suspect bears the traditional title of Okpataozuohia, describing the claim as entirely false and without the approval or recognition of the Umuobom Kingdom.
According to the royal father, he has never met the individual in question and, therefore, could not have conferred any chieftaincy title upon him.
He emphasized that the alleged title circulating on social media was fabricated and should be disregarded by the public.
The monarch further stated that Umuobom Ancient Kingdom remains a peaceful community whose people are predominantly hardworking farmers and law-abiding citizens.
He noted that the suspect has not been residing within the community, as available information indicates that he has long been based in Onitsha, Anambra State.
Reacting to the viral videos linking the suspect to alleged vehicle theft incidents, including reports of a stolen vehicle abandoned along Egbu Road in Owerri after an incident at Relief Market and another alleged operation in Nkpor, the traditional ruler urged the public not to associate the actions of one individual with the entire community.
He reiterated the kingdom’s unwavering commitment to supporting security agencies in identifying and rooting out criminal elements while preserving the peace and integrity of Umuobom.
The monarch also commended the collaborative efforts of security operatives in Anambra State that culminated in the suspect’s arrest and encouraged a thorough investigation to ensure that justice is served.
The royal father equally acknowledged the ongoing security initiatives of the Imo State Government under Governor Hope Uzodimma, expressing confidence that sustained collaboration between government, security agencies, and local communities will continue to strengthen peace and public safety across the state.
