Community leaders, stakeholders and the people of Bende Federal Constituencies have showered praises on Rt Hon. Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and member representing their Federal Constituency, for his infrastructural stride in the area.
Reacting to the construction of the road linking Agboa, Ozuitem, to Uzoakoli, the constituents described Kalu as a man who came prepared and has the needs of people written in his heart before heading to Abuja.
Speaking, a traditional ruler from the area, HRM Eze Ifeanyi, said that what Kalu is doing is what no one expected from a representative of a federal constituency, stressing that no matter what it takes, his community will stand by him in the future.
“Benjamin Kalu is really doing very well. We appreciate him. Whatever he’s looking for, my community will vote for him,” Eze Ifeanyi said.
A stakeholder from the area, Mr Okoroafor, said that he had seen leaders come and go, but since the inception of the current democracy, Rt Hon. Benjamin Kalu seems to be a rare leader with a soft spot for the people.
“Since the inception of this democratic dispensation, we’ve never seen such a democratic dividend coming from the House of Representatives.
“Starting from the people who represented us here in Bende South through PDP, there was absolutely nothing to show. Nobody could pass through this road.
“As Benjamin Kalu took over, he lifted our burdens and made life very easy for us. As it stands now, our farm produce can easily be taken to the market while our people are happy,” Okoroafor said.
Mrs Chinyere, a community member, said that the road was a place many considered a nightmare to venture into, but immediately Rt Benjamin Kalu took over as their representative.
“God used him to construct this road. I and other Akoli people and some other persons whose communities this road cut across down to Amorji-Imenyi are saying that it shall surely be well with Benjamin Kalu.”
Adding his voice, Mr John said that inasmuch as he cannot speak about what other parts of Nigeria are enjoying, as a Bende man, he can say without mincing words that no political leader has impacted his people more than Benjamin Kalu.
“I know my age and when I was born. Since my childhood till this time of my life, I’ve never seen a political leader who touched people’s lives like Benjamin Kalu has done. He has not been there for eight years, but his records in Ugwueke are unbeatable.”
Some other people who spoke corroborated the speeches of the previous but went further to say that Rt Hon. Benjamin Kalu, despite being a Bende Federal legislator, is actually the face of the new generation of top Igbo political leaders who are breaking boundaries and winning friends for Ndigbo across Nigeria.
