Trouble For Abaribe As APGA Denies Expelling Him

The move to declare Abia South Senatorial District seat vacant has intensified, as the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has denied expelling the Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, who represents the zone from the party.

APGA also added that Abaribe was suspended from the party in September 2025 and never reacted to his suspension until he resigned from the party.

State chairman the party, Ambassador Sunday Onukwubiri, disclosed that Abaribe resigned from the party on December, 30,2025,  and has never associated with APGA after his resignation.

“Let it be known that Senator Abaribe was neither sacked nor  expelled from the party, Senator Abaribe resigned from the party on the 30th of December 2025 and submitted his resignation letter to the Ahiaba ward 5 chairman of Obingwa LGA.

“Now, the question begging for an answer is; If Senator Abaribe was sacked as he claimed in September 2025,why did he submit his letter of resignation in December 2025? Ordinarily, his resignation has clearly contradicted him in the Senate.

“Any person sacked or expelled, is no longer a member of such body. But here, after three months of purported sack,he filed in a resignation letter,” Onukwubiri said.

Speaking further, he said that it is clear that APGA as a national party has neither problem nor crisis anywhere in the entire nation, talk less the national leadership, the most peaceful.

“APGA Abia State wants to inform the public and particularly the Senate that Senator resigned from the party, and we advise the Senator to desist from such  activities, it is not good for him. If he has told lies, let him substantiate the lie.”

Onukwubiri further stated that Abaribe never responded to his suspension.

“He didn’t even respond to his suspension. In politics, when you are suspended, you can come and ask ,what did I do? But Abaribe never responded to the party.

“Even before the suspension, the party leadership sent him a letter around July or August 2025, we reminded him that since he has been there,he has never called the party leaders for a meeting, not even at the zonal level.

“We asked him to call a meeting on how the party can move forward, but he never responded until he resigned in September 2025.”

The party had earlier in a statement by its state publicity secretary, Chukwuemeka Nwokoro, alleged that it has uncovered attempts by the close associates of the Senator who are reaching out to former APGA members to raise a letter for him.
