Special Adviser to the Abia State Governor on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, has distanced himself from a viral post credited to him and circulated by Igbere TV (IGTV) on Facebook and another platform, “Olu Ndi Igbo”, on X (formerly Twitter).
The publications, which alleged that Ekeoma made damaging statements against the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, particularly regarding Kalu’s relationship with Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, have been described by Ekeoma as “fake, irresponsible, and criminal.”
In a strongly worded statement issued on Monday, Ekeoma condemned the report, describing it as “a display of journalistic irresponsibility at its peak” and “an act of audacious impersonation that should have no place in modern politics and democracy.”
According to him, the only official rejoinder he ever made concerning the Deputy Speaker is still available on his verified Facebook page, and it does not contain any of the allegations circulated by the said platforms.
“Whether as an individual or as a government spokesperson, I do not write through a third party, neither do I use a pseudo name or account,” Ekeoma stated.
“It is therefore criminal for Igbere TV, ‘Olu Ndi Igbo’ or any other platform to issue a statement based on personal vendetta and credit me as the author.”
Ekeoma emphasized that while he often engages robustly on issues of governance, he remains “cultured and emotionally intelligent enough not to resort to baseless fabrications against any individual, including the Deputy Speaker”.
He added that he always takes full responsibility for his opinions and statements, which he personally signs and publishes through his official Facebook page.
Condemning what he described as “media attacks driven by cowardice and criminal subterfuge,” the governor’s aide warned the aforementioned platforms and their sponsors to desist from using his name to promote their personal or political agendas.
“This post serves as a warning to the aforementioned platforms and their sponsors never to use my name to embark on their self-serving agenda against their opponents in the future, failure which I would be forced to take legal action,” he declared.
