The Nigeria Police Force is facing an embarrassing security breach after one of its official vehicles was reported stolen right inside its headquarters in Abuja.
According to an internal signal, the missing vehicle a Toyota Buffalo Land Cruiser with registration number NPF 5594 D; was attached to the Department of Operations at the Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House.
The vehicle reportedly disappeared from the official parking lot on July 28, 2025, and has since not been recovered.
Nationwide Alert on Missing Vehicle
Police authorities have confirmed that the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) is handling the case. All divisional police officers, area commands, and formations across the country have been instructed to be on high alert and circulate details of the stolen vehicle.
Security operatives have also been told to treat the matter as “very important” and report any lead that could help recover the SUV.
This is not the first time a police vehicle has gone missing in Nigeria. Similar cases have been reported in different commands where official cars either disappeared from duty posts or were snatched by criminals. Security experts say the incident raises questions about safety within the Force itself, especially as it happened at the country’s highest police headquarters.
The police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and recovery efforts are in top gear.
