‘We’ll End Banditry in Your State’ — ADC Fires Back at Katsina Governor

Bolaji Abdullahi, former minister of sports and interim spokesperson for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), says ending banditry in Katsina state would be a top priority for the coalition.

His statement was in response to Dikko Radda, governor of Katsina, who dismissed the newly formed opposition coalition, adding that the group is made up of familiar politicians with no fresh ideas or solutions for the country.

He said the coalition lacks credibility and has nothing new to offer Nigerians.

Responding, Abdullahi criticised the government of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), saying it had long abandoned efforts to tackle the rampant insecurity in Katsina.

He said the ADC will make it a priority to end insecurity in the north-east state.

“Governor Diko Rada of Katsina wants to know what the coalition will do differently. Good question,” Abdullahi said.

“To start with, we will end banditry in his state, a task that the APC government has long given up on.”

In a statement on July 9, the ADC said it has no interest in destabilising the country, noting that its commitment to change is anchored solely on democratic means.

“We are not soldiers, we are politicians. We don’t have bullets; we only have the ballots. When the time comes, we will present our solutions and an alternative vision for Nigeria, and allow the people to decide,” the statement reads.
