The Federal Government has announced July 14, 2025, as the official date for the commencement of recruitment into the four paramilitary agencies under the Federal Ministry of Interior.

The Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the disclosure through the Board Secretary, Major General Abdulmalik Jibrin (Rtd), in a communiqué released in Abuja.

According to the statement, the recruitment portal will open on Monday, July 14, 2025, for applications into the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The minister urged applicants to avoid fraudsters and assured that the process will be transparent and seamless, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo also announced that disciplinary action had been taken against 224 personnel across the paramilitary agencies for various infractions. The sanctions ranged from dismissal and compulsory retirement to warnings, loss of seniority, rejection of appeals, and exoneration.

According to the breakdown, the Nigerian Correctional Service recorded 143 disciplinary cases, the Nigeria Immigration Service had 31, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps accounted for 46, and the Federal Fire Service had 4.

In addition to the disciplinary measures, the CDCFIB approved the promotion of 95 senior officers across the four services. The promotions covered ranks including Controllers, Comptrollers, Commandants, Assistant Controllers, Assistant Comptrollers, and Assistant Commandants General, with the highest promotions reaching the ranks of Deputy Controllers, Comptrollers, and Commandants General (DCGs).

Specifically, the Nigerian Correctional Service had 4 officers promoted from Assistant Controller General (ACG) to Deputy Controller General (DCG), and 31 officers elevated from Controller of Correction (CC) to ACG.

The Nigeria Immigration Service recorded the promotion of 6 officers from ACG to DCG, and 20 from CC to ACG.

For the Federal Fire Service, 3 officers moved from ACG to DCG, while 22 were promoted from CC to ACG.

The Board also approved the establishment of a committee to develop a Harmonized Scheme of Service for the four services under the ministry. It further set the timeline for the 2025 promotion exercise, which will begin in August and conclude in November 2025.
