President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for his protection and guidance as he marked his 73rd birthday on Friday.

The President spoke briefly with journalists after attending a special birthday prayer session at the National Mosque in Abuja.

“I feel good, I feel happy, and give thanks to Almighty Allah that has protected us so far and continues to answer our prayers, accept our Ibadah. That is key and very important to all of us,” Tinubu said.

The prayer session, attended by dignitaries, clerics, and well-wishers, was dedicated to seeking divine blessings for the President and the nation.

Tinubu called for prayers for peace and stability.

“A prayer for our country to stabilise, keep in peace, and safeguard our people—all the citizens,” he emphasized.

When asked how this milestone birthday inspires his leadership, Tinubu reaffirmed commitment to service, highlighting the values of diligence and devotion.

“Well, the word for all of these is hard work. You work harder, you pray harder. That is the inspiration that I got from all of these. We thank God Almighty that at this age, we are in it,” he said.

The President marked his 73rd birthday on Friday with a special prayer session at the National Mosque in Abuja, dedicating the occasion to spiritual reflection and supplication for Nigeria’s peace and progress.

Arriving at the mosque at 1:44 p.m., the President was received by Vice President Kashim Shettima; Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin; Senator Soliu Mustapha; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, Chief of Staff to the President, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, and other prominent Muslim leaders.

Welcoming the President, Imam Abdulkadir Sholagberu expressed gratitude for Tinubu’s contributions to Nigerians, particularly during the Ramadan fasting period.

“Let me thank the President for several donations of gifts and offerings for the Muslim ummah across the country. Many of these have been distributed during this fasting period through the office of the First Lady,” Sholagberu said.

Citing a hadith of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the Imam emphasized the importance of charity, especially during Ramadan, and urged Muslims to continue acts of kindness beyond the holy month.

“Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said in his Sunnah that whoever gives to a fasting Muslim receives a reward that transcends into the hereafter,” he stated.

He also called on the faithful to persist in essential prayers such as Tarawih and Ta’ajud while supporting the less privileged.

“Muslims in the country have been praying for the President and the nation. May Almighty Allah grant him long life, good health, strength, and the wisdom to overcome challenges facing millions of Nigerians. Mr. President, Allah is with you, and you will succeed,” he said.
