Controversial Nigerian street pop singer Habeeb Okikiola Olalomi, popularly known as Portable, has been brought before the Isabo High Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The police had declared Portable wanted on February 18 over an alleged attack on three officials from the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA).
After surrendering to the police in Lagos on Wednesday, Portable was transferred to the Ogun State Police Command and subsequently taken to court on Thursday.
The incident in question occurred on February 5 when OGPDPA officials attempted to seal Portable’s bar due to lack of proper permits and insufficient airspace clearance.
The singer allegedly led a violent assault on the government officials, who sustained injuries but managed to flee.
Following the attack, authorities arrested and arraigned nine of Portable’s associates on multiple charges, including felony, armed violence, obstruction, assault, and attempted murder.
The case has sparked public debate, with many calling for strict legal action, while others argue that due process must be followed in resolving the conflict. The court proceedings are ongoing.
