The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) have agreed to deepen collaboration in the fight against corruption.

Through this collaboration, both agencies will work together to strengthen their efforts in curbing fraudulent activities, ensuring that businesses operate with integrity, and ultimately creating a more stable economic foundation for the country.

This partnership was disclosed in a statement issued by the commission on Tuesday, in Abuja after a courtesy visit by the EFCC Executive Chairman, Olanipekun Olukoyede.

Olukoyede, in his opening remarks, thanked the entire management and staff of CAC for the support and prompt response given to EFCC requests.

He noted that EFCC and CAC are both delivering on their mandates for the good of the citizenry and the nation.

The anti-corruption czar reiterated his commitment to using anti-corruption measures to stimulate the economy, create a business-friendly environment, and ensure regulatory compliance

He said, “We have resolved to use the instrumentality of fighting corruption to stimulate the economy and create a conducive environment for investors to run their business and ensure that everyone plays by the rules.”

In his response, the Registrar-General, Hussaini Magaji, said the visit would afford the two agencies the opportunity to strengthen their already existing collaboration in several areas, among which are knowledge and information sharing.

Magaji restated the Commission’s resolve to align with Mr President’s 7-point transformation agenda in turning the economy around.

“The strengthened partnership between the EFCC and CAC is expected to foster transparency, combat financial crimes, and promote ease of doing business in Nigeria,” he added.

The CAC boss therefore informed the EFCC boss that the CAC registration process is now AI-driven.

According to him, CAC has developed an intelligent company registration portal which is geared towards a seamless registration process.

“The ultimate goal is to ensure that companies are registered within one hour just as it’s obtainable in the UK Companies House and in line with international best practice,” he noted.

The statement added that the meeting was attended by EFCC special Investigation Officer, Mr Chris Odofin, while the CAC delegation included Director of Human Resources, Mrs Olayemi Oyeniyi; Director of Customer Service Mr Deinma Anga; Director of Incorporated Trustees Mr Duke Ukaga; Special Adviser to the Registrar-General Mrs Justine Nidiya; and the Director of Public Affairs Mr Dominic Inyang, along with other key officials.
