The member representing Bende Federal Constituency and the Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs was honoured with the prestigious award of HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES MOST OUTSTANDING SPOKESPERSON’s AWARD 2022. The event took place on the 16th December, 2022 was organized by the House of Representatives Press Corps in celebration of the end of the year at the Bolingo hotels Abuja.
The award which was presented by the Press Corps Chairperson, Mrs. Grace Ike is in recognition of his strides in managing the image of the House of Representatives and the relationship between the House and the Media as the Spokesperson. While presenting the award, Mrs. Ike and her executives appreciated Rep. Kalu for being accessible, knowledgeable and the delight of any interviewer.
“The Oracle”as we fondly call him, made our job easier with his resourcefulness and deep knowledge of parliamentary issues, humble, honest, transparent and ever willing to assist the corps achieve great milestones, his relationship with the Speaker also made access to the him much easier whenever the need arises.”
Other members of the House who were recognized and awarded include the Chairman, House Committee on Appropriations, Hon Aliyu Betera, Chairman, House Committee on Power, Hon. Engr. Magaji, Chairman, House Committee on National Security and Intelligence Hon Shaaban Sharada as well as Clerks of the National Assembly who have proven themselves through their dedication to service.
Rep. Kalu reacting to the award thanked the press for their partnership in ensuring the right narratives were out there for the Nigerian people to increase their confidence level in our democracy through publications that have strengthened their understanding of the legislature.
He further added that better budget is needed to run the Nigerian legislature more efficiently than it is currently while going that the economy of the country will improve in the future to handle this.
