Item Community ask Rep. Benjamin Kalu to run for Governorship as he flags off road construction at Amaokwe Item, Bende LGA.

Member representing Bende Federal Constituency in continuation of his projects commissioning and flag off tour as he arrived Amaokwe Item on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 to Flag off the construction of the Amaokwe-Akanu-Okai road in Item, Bende LGA.

The Amaokwe-Akanu-Okai road which cuts across 3 villages in Item connecting to Akaeze in Ebonyi State has been deteriorated over the last 25 years. The road will be reconstructed by the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA).

Speaking on behalf of Amaokwe Item, the President General, Amaokwe Item Welfare Union (AIWU), Chief Okoji Nmaju in his welcome address extolled the Representative for attracting such massive project to the community, recalling that few days ago, the member was also there to commission a block of 3 classrooms at the Item Community High School which was completed in weeks, and today he is back again to flag off a road construction. Chief Nmaju further added that the community will be glad to see him become the Governor of Abia State.

According to him;

‘We have today seen the dividends of democracy in our community as never before. We return thanks to our House of Reps. Member Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu Esq. My community is now looking forward to when this manner of person shall be sworn in as the Executive Governor of Abia State. We know this is going to be the beginning of our joy.’

Also speaking on behalf of the Item People, the President General, Item Development Union, Chief Kingsley Ogba Nwokoro commended Rep. Kalu for his commitment to the development of Item since his resumption to office, expressing gratitude to the member, what is happening in Item today. In his words;

‘I am excited for what I see happening around us today. I make bold to say that Never in the history of Item have we experienced such monumental development’

‘We are reinforcing and reassuring Hon. Ben Kalu that Item community is solidly behind him and what ever he wants, we will do’

He commended the Representative for fulfilling a promise he made to them without waste of time, highlighting that he has always been a man who keeps his words.

The Head of FERMA in Abia State, Engr. Nwoko in his speech, mentioned efforts made day and night by Hon. Benjamin Kalu to see that the road construction was approved in due time. While assuring the community of a quality construction, he requested that they give them the required cooperation and support as his team commences work.

Hon. Benjamin Kalu who was elated,  expressed delight in the good that has come to Item stating that they deserve every bit of it, he reassured them that every promise he made to the Item will be fulfilled accordingly. Responding to the Governorship bid, he stated that as much as he is qualified for the position, it is only God that gives power and not man, adding that in God’s time, the prophecy will surely come to fulfillment.

Present at the flag off ceremony were leaders of Item Community including; Eze Osoka Agwu, Eze Onuoha Okorie, Eze Chile Ogo, Chief Daniel Akwari a.k.a Osuuzo, Barr Goddy Agu, Hon. Egu Emmanuel Akwari, Engr Ndubuisi Okorie amongst others.

The lawmaker led the leaders and members of the community to formally flag off the road construction as he prayed that the road will not only cause economic development in Item but also be free from any form of accident and mishaps, the road was formally flagged off in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
