The Member representing Bende Federal Constituency and the Spokesperson of the house has condemned the attack on the Uzuakoli Police station.

The Member in a press statement released today April 19th 2021 stated that the unfortunate incident which occurred today in Uzuakoli, Bende Local Government is a painful way of bringing back the memories of the civil war which the South East is still recovering from.

In his words ‘It is saddening that while the South East is still recovering and rebuilding from the destructions of the civil war, certain anarchists venture to destroy the gains we have made through sweat, blood and tears. This is a way of reminding us of the previous pains of the war. We yearn for the sounds of unity that will activate prosperity and progress and not the sounds of guns that refreshes the memory of our pains.’

The representative called on community leaders and constituents of Bende to rise and support the efforts of security agencies in maintaining peace in the constituency and state. He also urged the youths to be vigilant and defend their land against these barbarians.

He added that it is time for security agencies to deploy the use of intelligence to lift the masks of these so called “unknown gunmen”.

He encouraged the Governor to take definite steps in protecting the citizens of Abia State and also called on the Inspector General of Police and all heads of security agencies to act swiftly to these terrible signs springing up in the South East.

He assured the people of Bende that the National Assembly and its Security Committees will work expediently further to its mandate of assisting the security agencies in addressing these ugly security situations in the country.
