This disclaimer is released to refute the claims that Mr. Ukpai Sunday was the chairman of the Itumbauzor Ward APC in Bende LGA.

In line with its constitutional mandate, APC chooses her executives (excos), not by appointment but, through party congresses. The last election which produced the excos had Mr. Emmanuel Chigozie elected as the APC Chairman for Itumbauzo Ward. The name, Ukpai Sunday is highly unknown to the body of party executives in Bende LGA.

Mr. Sunday was a spy of PDP in APC working for the former PDP candidate at the Bende Federal Constituency election and was discovered in the 2019 election after being captured on video evidence working against the party. Recall that petitions were sent to the local government party secretary against Mr. Sunday’s antiparty activities. The party secretary acknowledged several series of visitations by Mr. Sunday to the party office to apologise for his antiparty activities; where then he was advised to first apologise and seek acceptance by the excos of his ward. Mr. Sunday and his apology were rejected at the ward level therefore, to escape the hearing of the petition against his antiparty activities, his only option was to openly declare for those whom he had been secretly working for.

Our interview with the Bende LGA secretary, Mr. Cyril Kwubiri, who custodies the register of all the ward excos, confirms the above and the secretary’s statement captured on the Bende APC Whatsapp platform is reproduced hereunder.

“Mr Sunday Ukpai that claimed to have declared for PDP is already a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who worked for Chima Anyaso in the last 2019 general election which everyone knows about and was never the party chairman of All Progressives Congress both in INEC and ABSEC wards.

Same Mr Sunday Ukpai is known as someone who is very unstable. After Chima Anyaso lost in  the 2019 general elections, Sunday Ukpai came to my house saying he wants to work for us that he has realised his mistakes, I told him to go and identify with the ward chairman and leaders of itumbauzo ward which he did and was rejected in his ward.

As the LGA Party Secretary of APC, Mr Sunday Ukpai was never the ward chairman of Itumbauzo ward. The name of the Itumbauzo ward chairman is Mr Emmanuel Chigozie who still remains the chairman of Itumbauzo ward.”

Signed,

All Progressives Congress, Bende LGA
