It was an evening of glitz and glamour as the newly elected Deputy Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives, Honourable Benjamin Kalu was celebrated by his constituents, colleagues, family friends and well wishers as he embarked on a new phase in his political career.
Recognizing this recent elevation as a stepping stone rather than a culmination, the Deputy Speaker was joined by an array of prominent Nigerian political leaders, Generals, business tycoons, and celebrities at what was a double celebration held in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on Tuesday, June 13th, 2023.
Arriving the venue in his resplendent white agbada, and red cap to match, Honourable Kalu accompanied by his wife, Dr. Mrs Ezinne Kalu, who he described as an invaluable support and an embodiment of strength, was received with a resounding ovation.
He immediately proceeded to meet and greet all his guests, thanking them for honouring him with their presence.
The event witnessed a constellation of the who is who in the various sectors of Nigerian and global work-life, showcasing the collective recognition and appreciation for the Deputy Speaker’s commitment to service over the years.
Dignitaries at the Inauguration include; Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani Kayode, Executive Chairman, Federal Character Commission, Dr Muhiba Dankaka, National Vice Chairman APC SouthEast, Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, Ambassador to Burundi, Dr Elijah Onyeagba, (OON) Former Deputy Governor of Benue State, Chief Stephen Lawani, Former Minister for Mines and Steel, Dr Uchechukwu Ogah, Former Chief of Staff to Abia State, Dr. Mascot Kalu, Member representing Ideato North and South, Hon Ugochinyere Ikenga, Member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Fed. Constituency Hon Amobi Ogah, Chief Emeka Okonkwo (E-money), Hon Chima Anyaso, Hon Mascot Ikwechegh, Prof Victor Ukaogo, Former Chief Justice, Abia State, Rtd Justice Sunday Imo , Barrister Emeka Okafpr and former Rep member, Hon Chinweike Ike amongst a host of first class traditional rulers from Bende and other adjoining areas.
Bringing the ceremony to a start, the celebrant’s pastor, Pastor Jerry Uchechukwu Eze led the opening prayer before the Masters of Ceremony in Big Brother Africa winner Uti Nwachukwu and Naomi Oboyi kept the crowd spell bound with their mastery of words. In addition, the Limpopo crooner, KCee and the Abia traditional troupe took the crowd into pangs of ecstasy, causing guests to leave their seats for the dancing floor.
As the night came to an end in the early hours of the morning of the 14th of June 2023, guests and well wishers who attended asserted to the proof that when one like Benjamin Kalu proves that every aspiration must be attained with hard work,excellence and an atom of humility. It is our hope that Ndi Abia and NdiIgbo will continue to rally around him for greater things to come.
