Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, Governor of Anambra State has cautioned Ndi Igbo to avoid wasting their votes in the 2027 elections for President, Senate, Federal House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly seats, emphasising that the Igbos’ votes are crucial to ensuring President Bola Tinubu’s re-election, as their support counts in their own interests.
Speaking in Awka during a courtesy visit by the Women’s Wing of the City Boy Movement, led by his daughter Adaora Ifeatu Soludo, at the Anambra State Light House auditorium in Awka on June 1, 2026.
He said that Ndi Igbo should be part of making Tinubu president for a second term because their votes didt count in the first term; “we only had five thousand votes, and he won without our support. However, he can also win a second term, but this time, we will contribute to it,” he said.
Soludo siexplained that the movement aims to support Mr. President’s re-election. “We must approach politics rationally, not emotionally. It’s important to engage strategically by bargaining with our votes to avoid marginalization because, in democracy, your vote is your bargaining power.”
He also urged that efforts should be made across wards and local government areas to register enough voters who would support the current administration’s second term in 2027, for the benefit of Ndi Igbo.
He said that although Anambra is an APGA stronghold, he acknowledged that “Progressives are working together for the good of the Igbo people.”
Adora Soludo,in her speech said that the State Convener of the Anambra Chapter of the City Boy Movement, thanked the governor for the opportunity to present their agenda.
She appreciated the ongoing transformational projects, especially the ‘1 Youth, 2 Skills’ empowerment programme, which has positively impacted youths in the state.
Adora explained that the movement is committed to advancing President Bola Tinubu’s agenda. “Our movement aims to mobilise, empower, and involve women in community participation and development. We’ve established grassroots structures, inaugurated women promoters in all 21 LGAs, and are expanding to the wards across the state.”
She added that they also engage market women, traders, religious groups, students, and community-based women organizations to promote greater participation. Their activities include stakeholder engagement, grassroots mobilization, and community initiatives to foster development and awareness.
She appealed to the Governor for support to enhance their initiatives for the progress of the state and Nigeria.
