A Former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Abia State, Chief Charles Ogbonna, believes the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has been hijacked by external forces bent on destroying the party in Nigeria.
Speaking on the heels of the suspension of Senator Adophus Wabara, the Chairman of the PDP’s Board of Trustees, by the Abia State Working Committee of the party, Ogbonna, who has since defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), accused the stakeholders of being used by some individuals to cripple the party.
“Can sergeant in a police suspend a DPO in a Police station? It is not possible? They allowed themselves to be used by people outside our state. PDP is in the hands of some people now outside Abia and tell me how they can make a headway.
They are just heading for total distraction. I told people that PDP is in the mortuary and we are waiting for the burial date or are you expecting anything to come out of the desire of the G5?
I am praying for PDP to be buried locally.”
He ruled out the possibility of the PDP returning to power in Abia State, given the internal conflicts and power struggles within the party.
