Frontline Candidate for the Office of the Deputy Speaker and Member Representing Bende Federal Constituency, Rep. Benjamin Kalu received the Certificate of Valuable Parliamentary Performance by the Order paper of the National Assembly. The event, a first of its kind in the history of lawmaking in the nation was held at the Nigerian Airforce Centre on the 21st of May, 2023.
According to Oke Epia, the Executive Director of the Order Paper, the event is aimed at boosting the productivity of National Assembly members by recognizing exceptional parliamentarians who have served distinctively adding that the process of selection for the awardees was based on performance appraisal aimed at unveiling a distinct class of excellent performers in the National Assembly.
While presenting the certificate to Rep. Kalu who had also served as the Spokesperson of the 9th House, he stated that the lawmaker successfully managed the image of the 9th House of Representatives, bridging the information gap between the people and the parliament adding that the certificate is in recognition of his outstanding performance even as a first-time representative.
The event which was widely attended by notable dignitaries including the Governor-Elect of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, and Speakership Candidate Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, Deputy Speakership Candidate Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, former Chief of Army Staff, General Azubuike Ihejirika, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Tahir Monguno (MVP Hall of Fame inductee) Senator Yahaya Abubakar (MVP Hall of Fame inductee) Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe (MVP Hall of Fame inductee), amongst many others
Hon. Kalu while receiving the award expressed immense gratitude to the Order Paper for the recognition, highlighting that he is truly inspired to do more even in the 10th Assembly to take the House of Representatives to greater heights for the betterment of all Nigerians.
