The Member representing Bende Federal Constituency and Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Rep. Benjamin Kalu paid a courtesy visit to the Former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial Zone, Sen. T.A Orji at his Umuahia home on Tuesday, February 7, 2023
The lawmaker went down memory lane recalling his role in his emergence as the Chairman of Local Government in 2003 under Gov. Orji Uzor Kalu, Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Government Chieftaincy Affairs and finally Senior Special Adviser on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and International Affairs between 2007 and 2011, and how they have maintained the relationship since then despite being in different political parties.
He described the Senator as a man of honor and dignity who bowed out of service when the ovation was still loud to give room for the next generation of leaders.
Rep. Kalu commended the Former Gov. on how he has raised men across the state to stand on their feet without attempting to pull them down.
He further informed the Senator of his bid to return to the House of Representatives to continue the good works he has started in Bende Federal Constituency.
In his words;
As an elder statesman and my former boss who has always had my back, I have come to formally inform you of my intention to run for a re-election to the House of Representatives to carry on with the good work I have started in Bende Federal Constituency as I commence my campaign rally tomorrow.
The Former Governor in his response appreciated the Honorable Member for coming to honour him with this visit. He acknowledged the lawmaker’s outstanding representation, highlighting that his good works are truly evident as he has also seen.
“You have done so well. I have monitored you and seen your good work in representation, execution of projects, and legislative activities. Even without monitoring you, I get good reports about you and I am indeed proud of you.”
The Former Governor further encouraged the Representative and his team to remain steadfast in their cause while praying for success and victory for them in the forthcoming elections.
Rep. Kalu was accompanied by the Minority Leader of the Abia State House of Assembly and Member representing Bende North State Constituency, Hon. Chijioke Chukwu, the Director General of the Benjamin Kalu Campaign Council, Hon. Emma Trumps Eke as well as other members of the Council.
