Press Release
October 1, 2021
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY, NIGERIA
Today, we celebrate 61 years of freedom as a nation. A day that offers us the opportunity to reflect on the struggles of our heroes past, the joy and fulfillment of the victory which they attained.
As we reflect on our journey so far, there are inevitable flaws that may have inhibited our growth and progress, however, we will not ignore the reasons for which we should continue to be steadfast in this journey to becoming better together. We will not disregard the strength of our unity and the beauty in our diversity. As with every other nation in world, there are flaws that we can strive to perfect and become a better society by common effort.
It is important that we come to the realization that Nigeria and every part of it will only make progress when we all embrace peace and tolerance for all irrespective of our beliefs and ethnicity.
Today, as we commemorate our 61st year as an independent nation, I urge all Nigerians to embrace the spirit of patriotism and uphold the peace, unity and love that should be a binding force to us as a people. I encourage every citizen to be part of building this nation as every successful society is built on collective work.
I also call on the youths to take advantage of this opportunity to be part of laying the bricks of nation-building until this great nation, especially as we begin a new decade, to make an indelible mark to the development of the nation for us and the generations to come.
On behalf of Bende Federal Constituency, I celebrate Nigeria on this special day as we turn 61 and I pray for continued peace and progress.
Once, again Happy Independence Day, Nigeria!
Signed:
Rep. Benjamin Kalu
Member, Bende Federal Constituency
Spokesperson, House of Representatives
