In a bid to recover all illegally acquired properties, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it will pursue the trial of late former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, to a logical conclusion.

This means the anti-graft body will likely confiscate the deceased properties despite his unfortunate death. An EFCC official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to our source, stated that the commission was determined to pursue the ongoing trial to a conclusive end and recover all illegally allegedly acquired properties by the deceased.

Before his assassination, Badeh was standing trial alongside Iyalikam Nigeria Limited, before Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja. He was accused of abusing his position by diverting Nigeria Air Force (NAF) funds for personal enrichment and acquisition of properties in choice areas in Abuja.

The EFCC, in October, closed its case in the N3.9 billion money laundering against the former Chief of Air Staff. Badeh was due to begin defence of his trial before his assassination, prompting various conspiracy theories finding its way to public domain. Meanwhile, the NAF has warned members of the public to deviate from spreading misinformation concerning the death Badeh.
