Nigerians shelled out a staggering ₦2.23 trillion in ransom payments to kidnappers over a 12-month period, from May 2023 to April 2024. This alarming figure comes from the National Bureau of Statistics’ (NBS) latest Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report. A group, the University of Abuja Concerned Alumni Comrades, has opposed the Nigerian government’s plan to rename the University of Abuja to Yakubu Gowon University.
