Member representing Bende Federal Constituency and Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Rep. Benjamin Kalu is set to be awarded as the Most Outstanding Rep. Member of the Year 2022 at the 10th edition of the Democracy Heroes Awards which will be held on the 18th of August, 2022 at the Congress Hall, Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.
The delegation which was led by the convener of the Awards, Mr. Olufunsho Alexandre Ajabonna paid a courtesy call to the Office of the representative to present the Certificate of Nomination to him on the 20th of July, 2022 in the National Assembly Complex.
While presenting the certificate to the Representative, Mr. Olunfunsho highlighted that the award is in recognition of his outstanding performance in the 9th House of Representatives. He emphasized the process of nominations is strictly on merit by the public with no interference by the organization whatsoever, adding that the records of Rep. Kalu through his Bills, motions and Constituency Projects have merited this prestigious award.
Rep. Kalu who has also been nominated to the Most Valuable Parliamentarian (MVP) Hall of Fame by OrderPaper of the House of Representatives in the Category of Top Performer in Bills Sponsorship expressed delight in the nomination. While appreciating the Democracy Heroes Awards, he reemphasized his commitment to continue contributing to the development of democracy in the nation despite various distractions.
He said:
“I am truly honoured to be nominated for this award for the Most Outstanding Rep. Member of the Year. I am more pleased to learn about the process of selection and voting was strictly by the public.
It is encouraging to see young people who, in various ways, acknowledge the contribution of lawmakers to the ethos of our democracy. Despite all the distractions, we will continue to fulfill our obligations of service and leadership.”
