Ms Mary, an indigene of Bende Federal Constituency, has thanked the Deputy Speaker and Member representing Bende in the National Assembly, Rt Hon. Benjamin Kalu, for empowering her to the level that she is now independent.
DrumAfricanews gathered that Mary, one among several indigenes of the area who were empowered with one million naira each by the Deputy Speaker to start a business, came back to him in his recent visit back home to showcase the fruits of the empowerment.
From what was gathered from the young lady (Mary), she said she took the opportunity she was given and learned how to make snacks, pastries, or small chops, including her very sweet chin-chin, which she named “Uncle Ben’s Chin-Chin”.
She thanked the Deputy Speaker for believing in and investing in her and stressed that she decided to make that belief count and equally reported to him that her business is moving well.
Mary, who also came with some of her products, as evidence of her testimony, was instructed by the delighted Deputy Speaker to make the products available for him and friends to eat.
Speaking, Kalu recounted how he empowered over 16 of the youths back then with one million naira each, but said that he is over joyed to see that the kindness he showed to them is beginning to bear fruits to the level that Mary is now producing edible things and making ends meet.
He said that he delights in sustainable empowerment that makes youths and people financially independent and encouraged Mary never to relent in her hard work, as it has paid off for her.
Meanwhile, DrumAfricanews reports that those present during Mary’s visit equally supported her more financially and encouraged her to remain focused and determined.
