The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, PhD, CFR has commiserated with the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, over the death of his mother, Alhaja Sidikat Basiru.
Kalu, in a condolence message noted that the late Alhaja Basiru who died at 92 was a pillar of strength to her family and a model of piety in her community.
He added that Senator Basiru’s commitment to the APC and national politics reflects the values and discipline instilled in him by his late mother.
“Losing a mother is never easy irrespective of the age, but we take solace in the fact that Alhaja Sidikat lived a long, impactful life and raised children, one of whom is serving our great party, the APC well.
“At 92, Mama, no doubt, left behind a legacy of godliness, discipline, and compassion that her children are evidently carrying forward in national service.
“I sympathize with my brother, Senator Ajibola Basiru, over this painful loss of his beloved mother,” Kalu said.
He prayed for the repose of Alhaja Sidikat Basiru’s soul and asked God to grant the entire Basiru family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss
