As the race for the next National Assembly leadership hots up, the nomination of Hon Benjamin kalu for the position of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives 10th Assembly is gathering huge momentum and support across the country.
The Southern Nigeria Development Initiative paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Benjamin kalu in his office at Abuja Nigeria on Friday 25th May 2023. The group acknowledged the achievement track records of Hon. Benjamin Kalu as Spokesperson of the Green House and at his Constituency.
The Convener of the Group Dr Matthew Okiri Okeyim in his speech appreciated Hon. Kalu for the good works he has done in Bende Federal Constituency in Abia State ranging from construction of class blocks , building of roads , health Centers and provision of infrastructural services to the people for the improvement of human welfare.
Dr. Okeyim echoed the Group’s focus on equity , justice and fairness and applauded the All Progress Congress stance on zoning in Nigeria .
Furthermore he appealed to the House of Representative members to continue to tap on the wealth of experience of Hon Benjamin kalu as a legal practitioner whose ability to translate and write the bills into law is not an exaggeration.
“All formal and Informal actors at the legislative hub should to key in their support for Hon. Benjamin kalu and Tajudeen Abbas Candidature respectively without rancour ” Dr. Okeyim yet appealed.
Convener of the group also pointed out that Hon Benjamin kalu has been a symbol of National Unity , peace and justice, stressing that his nomination is for national interest.
Responding, Hon Benjamin Kalu in his usual display of humility appreciated Southern Nigeria Development Initiative for finding time to visit and support for his aspiration and Hon Tajudeen Abbas for Deputy and Speaker positions respectively of the 10th House of Representatives.
He assured the group that if allowed to serve in that capacity, he would continue to defend the tenets of democracy moreso from the legislative arm.
