The federal government has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining robust ties with the Republic of Ghana, including people-to-people relations.

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, made the commitment on behalf of the government during her ongoing two-day visit to Ghana.

The Special Assistant on Communication and New Media to Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Magnus Eze, in a statement made available to news men, said the minister is in Ghana to address the situation of Nigeria-Ghana citizens’ relations and meet with relevant stakeholders at both ends, including the President of Ghana, the country’s Foreign Minister, traditional rulers, and Nigerians resident in Ghana.

This, Eze stated, was to ensure that the lives, property, and businesses of Nigerians and Nigerians living in Ghana are safe and protected.

“As part of the engagements for the minister, a few minutes after touching down at Kotoka International Airport, Accra, Ghana, on Tuesday evening, she had a quick interface with the Inspector General of Police, Ghana, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, who was on his way to London, United Kingdom.

“Odumegwu-Ojukwu continued similar engagements on Wednesday with Ghanaian officials and leaders of the Nigerian community,” Eze said.

Eze added that the minister is expected back in Abuja on Thursday, July 31.
