Organized Labour Pledges Partnership With IMSHIA To Expand Health Coverage
A delegation of the leadership of Organized Labour in Imo State paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Imo State Health Insurance Agency (IMSHIA), Dr. Donald Osita Eneh at the Agency’s Headquarters in Owerri.
The delegation comprised the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Imo State Chapter, the Trade Union Congress (TUC), and the Joint Negotiating Council (JNC).
The visit provided a platform for the labour leadership and IMSHIA management to engage on matters of mutual interest, with a central focus on strengthening health insurance coverage and access to quality healthcare for workers in Imo State.
The Labour leaders commended IMSHIA for the progress recorded in the implementation of the ImoCare Health Insurance Program. They described health insurance as a critical welfare package that protects workers from catastrophic health spending.
The Organized Labour expressed support for the enrollment of all Imo State public servants and pensioners into ImoCare. They pledged to mobilize members across MDAs, LGAs, and the informal sector to key into the scheme.
In his remarks, Dr. Eneh emphasized that a healthy workforce is a productive workforce. He noted that partnering with Organized Labour is central to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Imo State.

The Labour leaders reaffirmed their commitment to partner with IMSHIA to ensure every worker in Imo State is enrolled and enjoys the benefits of health insurance. They called on the State Government to sustain funding and political will for the scheme.
