The Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs and Member representing Bende Federal Constituency, Rep. Benjamin Kalu has been awarded the Most Innovative Representative of the House by the House of Representatives Press corps at the 2nd Annual Dinner which held on the 12th of July at the International Conference Center.

The event was organized by the Press Corps with the aim of recognizing outstanding legislators who have been effective in the delivering the dividends of democracy to their constituents and Nigeria at large.

The Spokesperson in his opening speech at the event mentioned that it has been the desire of the legislative arm to ensure the transparency and accountability in the activities of the National Assembly. He added that it is important to build a relationship with the media because the more Nigerians understand the position of the National Assembly, the more the level of misinformation and fake news is reduced.

In recognition of his proactive leadership and pragmatic representation in his constituency, Bende Federal constituency, through the COVID Interventions, online communication platform (Bende Congress), Weekly Radio Program (Ben Kalus Mandate) and the innovation he introduced as the Chairman Media and Public Affairs through The Green Chamber Magazine, which has documented all activities of the 9th Assembly, Rep. Benjamin Kalu was recognized as the MOST INNOVATIVE representative of the House.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives while presenting this award to the Rep. Kalu, thanked him earnestly for all he does in building a strong relationship between the parliament and the press and for being outspoken and ever ready to speak to the press on behalf of the House.

While receiving this award, the member thanked the Press corps for organizing such an event to encourage members of the house in the work they are doing. He applauded them for discharging their duties and responsibilities in promoting parliamentary democracy for the benefit of the people.

He added that the members of the House are encouraged to do more as parliamentarians for the good people of Nigeria and urged the press corps to continue to ensure that information gets to the people without any form of bias and slandering.
