The Aba Made Film Project, titled “The Chronicles of Enyimba”, is set to begin the second phase of its preproduction activities after recently concluding auditions in the three senatorial zones of Abia State and three nearby cities.
Addressing newsmen, the producer of the movie, Mr Francis Ifeakandu, explained that in the course of the audition, each senatorial zone was given three slots or locations where the whole audition activities took place.
According to Ifeakandu, the Abia North Senatorial Zone took place in Ohafia, Isuikwuato and Abia State University, Uturu; Abia Central took place in Isiala-Ngwa South, Umuahia North and Michael Okpara University, Umudike; while Abia South took place in Obingwa, Ukwa West and Aba Township.
He added that there were equally external audition activities that took place in the neighbouring Owerri, the Imo State capital, Uyo, the Akwa-Ibom State capital, and Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
Explaining the packages expected in the upcoming second phase of preproduction activities, Ifeakandu said it is a two-pack event: the casting and homecoming of all Abia-born and Aba-raised Nollywood stars.
He said that since the blockbuster film of the chronicles of Enyimba City, to be directed by the Nigerian-born Hollywood director Dr Prospect Mlemchukwu, will feature all the entertainment stars with Abia roots, the casting of the film has availed these entertainment stars the opportunity of coming back home after so many years due to the infrastructural decay and insecurity in Abia as a result of bad governance.
“The significant developments in Abia State under His Excellency Dr Alex Otti have ignited their return. On arrival, the superstars in their numbers will tour around the governor’s completed project sites, which will be part of the new story of Aba in the film, after several decades of terrible leadership,” Ifeakandu said.
He also added that Awards of Honour shall be presented to some distinguished personalities whose contributions to the growth and development of Aba remain outstanding.
Among those listed are Ide John Udeagbara, Chief Leo Nnodu Okoye, Chief Sir Alphosus Udeigbo, Chief Jerry Kalu, Rt Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, Speaker of the Abia State 8th Assembly, Rt Hon. Alex Ifeanyi Ikwechegh, Chief David Ogba (Burdex), etc.
Ifeakandu also added that the two mayors of Aba North and Aba South local government areas, the three House of Assembly members representing Aba North, Aba South and Aba Central at the State Assembly alongside himself, as producer of the Aba Made film project, together with the special assistant to Governor Otti on arts, culture and creative economy, Hon. Matilda Anyamele, will lead the Nollywood stars on the project sites tour.
Our correspondent also gathered from the press briefing that as part of the steps towards restoring the lost glory of Aba in the filmmaking business, the office of the governor, through the special assistant on arts, culture and creative economy, will be engaging all the movie stakeholders, including the Nollywood stars, in a crucial meeting with the theme “Revolution Now on the Abia Film Industry”.
“All the guilds’ heads are to attend with their secretaries. The meeting will be held on the 11th of June 2026 at Hotel Du Gulf. There will also be a courtesy visit to the Governor of the state who doubles as the Brand Ambassador and Executive Producer of the Aba Made Film project,” Ifeakandu said.
