The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has screened and cleared Mrs Anastasia Odochi Uchenna, a popular Aba-based radio broadcaster, to contest the election to represent Aba Central State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly.
Also cleared by the PDP were Mr Enyinnaya Appolos, a former Chief Press Secretary to the immediate past governor of the state and now ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain; Dr Okezie Ikpeazu; and 16 other aspirants to contest the party’s primary election for the Abia State House of Assembly.
DrumAfricanews gathered that the PDP primaries are scheduled to be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking after the screening, Mrs Uchenna appreciated the leaders of the party for the confidence reposed in her.
She thanked them for the smooth screening and stressed that the screening exercise helped her to see that personal documentation is very important.
According to her, she brought all the requirements demanded by the committee, as the documents were kept in tact for many years without her going through one affidavit or the other.
Speaking further, she urged all eligible voters in Abia State, especially Aba Central, to take advantage of the extended Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and get themselves legally ready for the elections.
“INEC has resumed for CVR. All those that have been saying they love me for some time now should please go out there and get registered, for the only way they can show me love now is not to say it but to get registered so that on election day, they’ll use their PVC to change Aba Central. Those that want to transfer to Aba Central should please do so fast,” she said.
