The latest orchestrated attack against the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has once again revealed the growing fear, panic, and desperation within opposition ranks who have clearly run out of ideas and now resort to recycled falsehoods and politically motivated petitions.

The response submitted by respected law firm Olaniwun Ajayi LP on behalf of Hon. Benjamin Kalu comprehensively dismantles every allegation contained in the petition and establishes, beyond doubt, that all relevant documents are lawful, valid, authentic, and verifiable.

What Nigerians are witnessing is not a genuine legal complaint, but a calculated smear campaign driven by those terrified by Benjamin Kalu’s rising national profile, sterling performance, and growing acceptability across political divides.

Facts Over Fiction
The legal response makes several critical points clear:

– There is no legal basis whatsoever for the cancellation or withdrawal of Benjamin Kalu’s qualifying certificate.

– No law prohibits simultaneous participation in the Nigerian Law School programme and NYSC at the time in question.

– The so-called “false declaration” being weaponized by detractors was merely an administrative form and not a sworn legal oath.

– The petitioner provided suspicion, conjecture, and political noise not evidence.

Politics of Panic
It is telling that rather than engage Benjamin Kalu on ideas, legislative achievements, or national development, opponents have chosen the path of blackmail and character assassination. This is the oldest tactic of failing politicians: when they cannot compete, they fabricate controversy.
Their anxiety is understandable.

Benjamin Kalu has continued to distinguish himself as one of the most articulate, productive, and visionary leaders in the current democratic dispensation. His growing influence, national reach, and reform-minded leadership have unsettled those who depend on division and propaganda for survival.

Verified Records, Failed Conspiracy
Every official record referenced in the response is valid, traceable, and verifiable through the appropriate institutions. The petitioners have been unable to produce any contrary legal document because none exists.

The Nigerian people can see through this campaign of fear. They know the difference between genuine accountability and desperate political sabotage.

Benjamin Kalu remains focused, undistracted, and committed to nation-building. No amount of manufactured scandal can erase competence, credibility, or service.

Those plotting in fear should understand one thing clearly: truth is stubborn, documents are verifiable, and desperation is never a substitute for leadership.
