…says that Ogah allegedly sabotaged Otti’s ambition under APC in 2019
…sets to constitute disciplinary committee to take final decision on Ogah
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that it is not surprised at what it termed ‘disgraceful, self-serving press statement and anti-party activities’ of the former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah.
This is even as the party through Uche Aguoru, its publicity secretary, accused Ogah of betraying the APC, stressing that “indeed, political sabotage has become synonymous with the name Uche Ogah.”
Aguoru said, ‘Let it be clearly stated: Dr Ogah actively sabotaged the APC in 2023 by working against the party’s interest and supporting the candidacy of Alex Otti. ”
The APC spokesperson said that Ogah’s current endorsement of Otti’s administration is, therefore, not based on any credible assessment of governance but a continuation of his well-known anti-party conduct.
He added that Ogah’s claims about performance are hollow, “especially when the current administration’s output remains far below expectations despite the enormous resources at its disposal,” Aguoru said.
The APC publicity secretary said that as a party built on discipline, loyalty, and principle, the party finds Ogah’s continuous romance with a rival political party not only disgraceful but also a blatant betrayal of the platform that once gave him relevance.
Aguoru said that Ogah’s attempt to cloak his actions under the guise of “personal conviction” is not only laughable but deliberately deceptive.
“There is nothing principled about betrayal. His actions are clearly driven by personal ambition, desperation for power, and a consistent pattern of political opportunism,” Aguoru said.
Going further, Aguoru said, “It is also widely alleged that his 2019 ambition was backed by interests within the ruling PDP to frustrate other contenders, particularly Alex Otti, at the time.
“In pursuit of these selfish interests, the safety of APC members was allegedly compromised, and our party agents and stakeholders were harassed, detained, and intimidated by the military, allegedly in full connivance with Dr Ogah.
“One of such incidents occurred in Abia South around Ngwa High School, where APC members on election duty were reportedly detained and brutalised by military men until the conclusion of the election.”
Aguoru went further to say that Ogah must stop insulting the intelligence of Abians with his pretences, stressing that he should come clean and admit that his support for Alex Otti is tied to personal political arrangements and selfish calculations, rather than any imaginary commitment to good governance.
He said that the APC in Abia State will not sit back and watch a suspended member continue to undermine the party with impunity, stressing that Ogah is suspended and remains suspended.
“We remain resolute in our mission to rebuild, strengthen, and reposition the party for the task of taking over governance in the state come 2027.
“We will resist, confront, and decisively deal with any individual or group attempting to sabotage our collective efforts, no matter how highly placed they believe they are.”
Aguoru said that the party will, in the coming days, constitute a disciplinary committee to take a final decision on Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah.
“All options, including his outright expulsion from the party, are on the table. It is obvious that his loyalty lies with the Labour Party, and we advise that he should formally join them and stop masquerading and plying his well-known acts of political sabotage under the APC banner.”
He assured the people of Abia State that the APC remains committed to providing a credible, disciplined, and people-orientated alternative anchored on transparency, security, accountability, and inclusive governance.
