The Imo State Health Insurance Agency (IMSHIA) has sealed a landmark agreement with the Heartland Hospital Management Corporation (HHMC) to eliminate barriers to medical care and ensure that quality health services are a reality for every citizen under the Shared Prosperity Agenda.
The agreement, which was sealed after a high-intensity strategic session ably led by the Executive Secretary/CEO, Prof. Uchenna Ewelike, officially concluded a transformative management agreement with the Heartland Hospital Management Corporation, a move said to have the capacity to directly execute the mandate of Governor Hope Uzodimma.
Prof. Uchenna Ewelike, while speaking, said, “It was a pansystolic meeting yesterday, but we concluded with Heartland Hospital Management Corporation in line with the directive of Governor Hope Uzodimma to improve access to healthcare.
“We are more committed to serving our people. Public office is just a call to serve; it is not a permanent job. Do your best when an opportunity comes to serve. Don’t forget your actions and inaction can affect lives. Consider humanity first.”
DrumAfricanews gathered that aligning the insurance regulator (IMSHIA) with the hospital managers (HHMC), the state is effectively closing the gap between “having insurance” and “receiving treatment”.
Sources from the Imo health sector told our reporter that this move will ensure the pulse of healthcare delivery remains strong from the state capital to the remotest ward.
“You could recall that the recent philanthropic enrolment of 500 pregnant women by Mr Seyi Tinubu serves as the benchmark for this new synergy.
“This management agreement ensures that these beneficiaries—and all ImoCare enrollees—will receive seamless, prioritised care at all the state-managed facilities,” Ewelike said.
