The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, has declared that the president represents all Nigerians, not just his political base.
Speaking after Tinubu’s recent trip to Kaduna, Dare described the visit as “a resounding political validation” that broke old myths about hostility to the president in the North.
“From the streets to the mosques, the connection between the people and their president was instant. Kaduna, once whispered as hostile terrain – showed love, loyalty, and warmth,” Dare said.
The aide noted that Tinubu’s presence at the wedding of Senator Abdul’aziz Yari’s son brought together top political leaders from across parties, including Bukola Saraki, Aminu Tambuwal, and governors from Katsina, Kebbi, and Sokoto.
He also highlighted the president’s visit to Aisha Buhari, widow of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, as a sign of respect for tradition and compassion in leadership.
According to Dare, one of the most symbolic moments was Tinubu’s warm handshake with former Jigawa governor Sule Lamido, a long-time critic. “Politics can be practised without bitterness,” he said, adding that the president’s gesture showed magnanimity and inclusiveness.
For Dare, the Kaduna trip was proof that Tinubu is committed to unity and national cohesion. “Leadership,” he said, “is not about grudges but about building bridges.”
He stressed that the president’s mandate goes beyond partisan lines and is rooted in loyalty, friendship, and policies that touch the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
