The lawmaker representing Osun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, has resigned his membership from the party.

This development came amid growing rumour over a plan by Governor Ademola Adeleke to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a letter dated June 12, 2025, and addressed to the PDP party chairman in Ward 4, Obokun Local Government of Osun State, Fadahunsi, who is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Industry, said his decision to resign was taken after consultations with his family and political associates.

“I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect, due to the irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles that have bedeviled the party at the national level after the 2023 general elections,” he said.

“This was concluded after consultation and engagement with my political associates, family, and friends. It is my wish that you accept my resignation in good faith.

“Thank you for your understanding,” the senator wrote.
