It’s been two years since Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu CFR, emerged unopposed and assumed office as the Deputy Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives representing the nation, starting from the good people of Bende Federal Constituency, Abia State.

In these two years, being his second term in the House, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu has continued to relentlessly reassure not just the people of Bende, but the entire Southeast, that we have a voice in the Green Chamber, a strong, consistent, and respected voice in matters of national integration.
There is no doubt that he has successfully secured our place at the decision-making table.

Last month, during his quarterly ward tour across his primary constituency, the Deputy Speaker visited all wards, not just for the usual routine engagement, but to commission over 200 projects facilitated by him across every nook and cranny of Bende. From Itumbauzo to Alayi, to Ozuitem, all the communities can attest that they are truly being well represented.

Even though constituency projects are not the core of his legislative responsibilities, the Deputy Speaker has ensured that the dividends of democracy are not a mirage for our people, but a tangible reality. When it comes to legislative assignment, Rt. Hon. Kalu has distinguished himself, sponsoring over 120 bills in just two years. Yes, a hundred and twenty!

These bills tackle critical national issues across all sectors of development including constitution amendment, gender equality, economic growth, productivity, security, health, education, governance, public service, and institutional reforms.

Little wonder, without saying a word, simply by working diligently every Tom, Dick, and Harry feels compelled to offer him unsolicited advice. Let’s be clear: no one expends that much effort on someone who lacks relevance. The attention speaks volumes to the recognition of his prowess, effectiveness, and undeniable presence in the political landscape.

Today, we proudly celebrate two years of excellence marked by impactful, people-driven leadership, strategic representation, and a results-oriented journey defined by purpose and progress in the 10th House of Representatives.

I salute my leader, mentor, and boss, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, the newly decorated Commander, Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (CFR) whose leadership continues to set the standard.

It’s undeniable that the future is bright, the signs are clear for all to see, and there’s only one direction forward: Let’s go there!
