President Bola Tinubu has submitted an updated list of nominees for the Governing Boards of the North West Development Commission (NWDC) and the South East Development Commission (SEDC) to the Senate for confirmation.

This announcement was made in a statement from the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Friday.

For the SEDC, Tinubu has nominated Hon. Emeka Atuma as Chairman, with Hon. Mark C. Okoye set to take on the role of Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer.

Other board members include Ugochukwu H. Agballah, Hon. Okey Ezenwa, Chief Hyacinth Ikpor, and Hon. Donatus Eyinnah Nwankpa, among others.

Further appointments to the SEDC board include Edward David Onoja, Orure Kufre Inima, and Chie Joke Adebayo-Chukwuma.

Also nominated are Prince Obinna Obiekweihe as Executive Director (Projects), Sen. Anthony O. Agbo as Executive Director of Finance and Administration, and Dr. Daniel Ikechukwu Ugwuja as Executive Director of Corporate Services.

In the revised nominations, Alhaji Lawal Samai’la Abdullahi has been appointed as Chairman of the NWDC, succeeding Ambassador Haruna Ginsau from the initial list.

The new NWDC board includes Ja’afar Abubakar Sadeeq and Yahaya Aminu Abdulhadi, with Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji retaining his position as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.

President Tinubu named Ambassador Haruna Ginsau as chairman of the NWDC board, alongside Senator Tijani Yahaya Kaura and Hon. Abdulkadir S. Usman as members.

“This new list replaces them with Ja’afar Abubakar Sadeeq and Yahaya Aminu Abdulhadi, while Alhaji Lawal Samai’la Abdullahi assumes the role of chairman.”

The statement continued, “The earlier board members included Dr. Yahaya Umar Namahe, Yahaya Aminu Abdulhadi, Engr. Muhammad Ali Wudil, Shamsu Sule, Nasidi Ali, and Aminu Suleiman.

“Following the President’s first list of nominees, the Senate amended the NWDC’s establishment act to incorporate members from all geopolitical zones.”

These revised nominations reflect the Senate’s adjustments to the NWDC’s establishment act, which now requires representation from all six geopolitical zones.

The appointed representatives include Chukwu Chijioke, Ahmed Mohammed, Engr. Ahmed Rufai Timasaniyu, Macdonalds Michael Uyi, Yemi Ola, and Hon. Babatunde Dada.

Tinubu underscored the significance of these commissions in promoting regional development and expressed confidence in the appointees’ capabilities to fulfil their mandates for the benefit of their respective regions.
