Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu has congratulated Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her re-appointment as the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) to serve for a second term.
Kalu in a statement eulogized Okonjo-Iweala who was Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, saying that she has made some footprints in the sands of time and the annals of world’s history as the first woman and first African to lead the World Trade Organization as Director-General.
The Deputy Speaker who described Okonjo-Iweala as a unique African Amazon, said that the WTO DG has showcased invaluable qualities of good leadership, saying that Africa and indeed, the world are proud of the Nigerian daughter who has distinguished herself in many remarkable ways by contributing immensely to the development of the nation, the continent and the global community.
Kalu added that Okonjo-Iweala is a rare gem and pride to womanhood who is held in very high esteem by the nation.
He said: “I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to you on your re-appointment as the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) to serve for second term.
“This well-deserved recognition is a testament to your exceptional leadership, vision, and dedication to promoting global economic growth and stability.
