As part of move to reconcile the members, ahead of the next general elections and making it formidable to clinch back power in 2027, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has inaugurated members of the reconciliation committee that will help galvanize and resolve grievances of members.
At the State Secretariat of the party in Umuahia, the Chairman of the PDP in Abia, Elder Abraham Amah, said the party is eager to take back power it lost in 2023, therefore , the urgent need to rebuild its broken walls.
He said it is pertinent that the party puts its house in order, because already, a large section of Abia population are fed up with the present level of impunity, security threats, massive sack of workers, ongoing under the Alex Otti’s administration.
Amah stated that the PDP is putting all arsenal in place to ensure they regain power, with the initial step being reconciliation and reunification of party members, particularly those who departed.
According to him, the reconciliation committee would hinge its operation on the assessment of grievances, which would be done by getting feedbacks from aggrieved members through surveys, interviews and others.
In addition, the Abia PDP chairman disclosed that the committee would facilitate dialogues and create detailed reports with recommendations, which would serve as a foundation for the party’s future actions.
The reconciliation committee which would be chaired by Elder Abraham Amah, has Sir Peter Aguomba as the co-chairman, Lady Ijeoma Okorie,, Lolo Gift Eugene, among other members.
Responding shortly after being sworn in by the State PDP Legal Adviser, Barr Kingsley Imaga, the Co-chairman of the Reconciliation committee, Peter Aguomba, pledged the willingness of the committee to deliver on its mandate, expressing confidence that they would achieve success, while praying God to touch the heart of all aggrieved members to accept reconciliation.
In an interview, the Abia South Vice chairman of the Party, Enyinnaya Appolos, affirmed that the first thing to do as a party, is to rejig itself, through the process of reconciliation.
He said the reconciliation would not be focused on those who left the party alone, but revealed that it would be a holistic approach, where all relationships with disgruntled members would be healed to achieve complete unity within the party.
