A former governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha who is rumoured to have kicked the bucket is rather hale and hearty, says his publicist, Samuel Onwuemeodo.
Onwuemeodo in a statement on Thursday November 7, 2024 disclosed that the erstwhile governor was not even sick talk less of joining his ancestors.
The publicist wondered why a group of people would contrive such a damning and damaging story about Owelle Okorocha who represented Imo West Senatorial District at the National Assembly between 2019 and 2023.
He explained that the Chairman of Rochas Foundation Colleges has not had simple headache since vacating political offices much less suffering from ‘acute gorilla’ as alleged by the masterminds of fake story.
According to Onwuemeodo, Owelle Okorocha actively participated in the obsequies of the late industrialist, publisher and President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu including being at the graveside on Friday November 1 and church service.
Thereafter, the media aide said Okorocha retired to his residence where he played host to dignitaries who attended Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu’s funeral ceremony.
The dignitaries, he disclosed, included the Deputy Speaker House of Representatives, Hon Benjamin Kalu and members of the National Assembly.
According to Onwuemeodo, Okorocha left Imo State on Monday November 4, 2024 for Abuja to attend the Night of Tributes for another prominent Igboman and former Minister of Science and Technology, Chief Ogbonnaya Onu.
He added that the former senator also attended the Service of Song for Chief Onu on Tuesday November 5, 2024.
The media aide added that what the Owelle Okorocha family has for the brains behind the ugly breaking news is simply sympathy.
He regretted that the masterminds of the rumour manufactured ‘acute gorilla ‘ and allocated it to the erstwhile senator who did not even suffer from fever and equally pronounced him dead when he is not only alive but also bouncing and bubbling.
He therefore solicited for prayers and condolences for the originators of the perfidy who he declared, dead spiritually.
Onwuemeodo submitted that the family and loyalists of the former governor were leaving the evildoers to God for the right recompense to be meted out to them.
He also expressed gratitude to those who have enquired to ascertain the actual condition of Okorocha ‘s health.
Recall that Owelle Rochas Okorocha governed Imo State for two terms of eight years from 2011 to 2019. He contested and won the 2019 Imo West Senatorial poll. However, the Returning Officer said he declared the result of the polls at gun point.
