The Council of Item Traditional Rulers today the 17th day of September 2022 Conferred the title of AGUNECHEMBA 1 OF ITEM (THE LION THAT DEFENDS ITEM COMMUNITY) on the member representing Bende Federal Constituency Rep. Benjamin Okezie Kalu at the annual New Yam Festival “IÑU NDI” in recognition of his outstanding representation.
The Chairman of the Council of Traditional Rulers HRH Eze Innocent Kalu while conferring this title described the Representative as a man who has the interest of Item people at heart and responds accordingly to their requests regardless of the when he is called upon.
He added that the title is a well deserved one as he has always defended the Item people at every given opportunity. He further appreciated the lawmaker for bringing the dividends of democracy to the people in the way that it is felt by all and sundry while seizing the opportunity to remind him of the Akanu Item road.
The Director General Benjamin Kalu Campaign Organization Hon. Emma Trumps Eke who represented the Representative in his response expressed gratitude to the Council on behalf of Rep. Benjamin Kalu for the honor. He informed Item people that the work on Akanu Item road has already begun as contractors have been on site and are currently delayed by weather conditions.
He also mentioned that the road leading to the venue of the event is also one other projects currently worked on, He assured the Item people of the unwavering commitment of Rep. Benjamin Okezie Kalu to the people of Item and entire Bende Federal Constituency to continue in his good works of delivering the dividends of democracy as he has always done.
