The Bloom Public Health team yesterday, November 15th 2021, paid an advocacy visit to the office of the Spokesperson of the House of Representatives and member, representing Bende Federal Consistency with the aim to seek strategic partnerships with the National Assembly as it concerns medical security.

The team which was led by the CEO, Bloom Public Health, Prof Chimezie Anyakora stated that they had come to advocate on various ways the House can partner with the organization for medical security. He said;

“We paid an advocacy visit to the Chairman House Committee on Media and Public affairs to make a case for local pharmaceutical manufacturing in Nigeria. We cannot overemphasize the importance of medicine security especially in the post pandemic era. Really happy to see the commitment of the National Assembly to partner with Bloom Public Health to make this happen. In the past one year Nigeria has risen to the challenge of medicine security. The first Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient factory will be ready next year. At least two companies are actively working on vaccine manufacturing. And many more concrete steps. We just need a strong government policy to deepen these gains. These strategic partnership with Bloom Public Health will help bring impact of good government policy to the last mile. Bloom Public Health has been a strong advocate for medicine security in Nigeria and one of the strongest voices for this agenda on the continent.

The law maker in his response assured them that the 9th House of Representatives since its inception has remained committed to ensuring that the health sector is prioritized and given the attention that it should especially with the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic. He added that the Committee on Media and Public Affairs is open to partnership that will support the security of the health sector in Nigeria, also mentioning the the Committee will work in tandem with the Committee on Health Services to enhance this conversation to ensure the House gets involved.

The team from Bloom Public Health also paid a visit to the Chairman, House Committee on Health services who also expressed interest to work with Bloom Public Health to address the issue of medicines security in Nigeria.
