The Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Rep. Benjamin Okezie Kalu was on Thursday 28, Oct 2021, paid a condolence visit to the home of his long time friend and in-law, the Abia born international sports analyst Ejikeme Ikwunze popularly known as ‘Mr football’ at his residence in Umunkaru Umuawa Alaocha Umuahia North local government of Abia state.
The Abia born sports veteran who’s excitement could not be hidden appreciated the visit of the member whom he described as notable and the greatest Abia export to the center whom have not just shown an extreme and immeasurable commitment over a shortest period of time but has indeed placed a prestigious and notable status on every Abian through his exceptional leadership. He applauded him for the impactful and notable projects visible all around Bende federal constituency stating that he is indeed a rare breed in today’s political arena.
Commiserating with the bereaved family, the honorable member, in his words extolled the rare gesture and exemplary life style of late Mama Veronica Ikwunze whom he described as a very humble woman who in her lifetime lived a life wordy of emulation and inspired so many other women around her.
The representative in the same vain appreciated Mr Football for his sincere and immeasurable commitment towards the growth and development of sports within and outside the shores of our nation describing him as an Eldorado of football who have shown capacity in preserving the historical events in the sector especially in the books he had written over the years.
Addressing the youths of the area who ambushed him with excitement and joyful chants, Rep. Kalu appreciated them all for their beautiful and kind words reaffirming his undeterred resolve to continue to project at the center the need for a youth inclusiveness in all spheres of governance.
Professor Victor Ukaogo, who is currently the Committee Chairman on Education in Bende Federal Constituency while sympathizing with the family eulogized the late Matriarch and community leader Ezinne Veronica describing her as a very devoted Christian and humble woman even at old age, while he used the medium to pray for the eternal rest of the departed soul of late Ezinne Veronica NKEMAKOLAM whom he testified was already seated in the right hand of our creator praying that God in his kindness will avail the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
