Mr. Chima Anyaso has produced documents in an attempt to prove his ownership of the land where his primary school in Igbere is sited. Mr. Anyaso produced an undated Power of Attorney as well as a survey plan dated April 23, 2012. However, legal experts have pointed out that the documents are inconclusive proof of ownership of the land as Mr. Anyaso does not have a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) to the property.

According to them, the property in question is sited in Onu Ibina Primary School, a government school, on a land gazetted and belonging to the government. Therefore, it is a C of O that establishes legal ownership and not a Power of Attorney.

Mr. Anyaso’s Power of Attorney

You will recall that at the recently concluded Abia Election Debate, Benjamin Kalu, esq. reprimanded Chima Anyaso for claiming that his school was free, reminding him of the infamous 2018 August meeting incident where the women of Ibinaukwu, Igbere revolted against Mr. Anyaso’s mother for allowing her son to charge school fees, tissue paper levies, soak away drainage and other fees amounting to about N17,000, all the while claiming to the outside world and foreign investors that the school was free.

At that debate, Mr. Benjamin Kalu expressing his disgust at Mr. Anyaso’s exploitation of the plights of the people of Bende assured the public that the school, sited in a land belonging to the government would be recovered by the government and converted to a genuinely free school based on the Land Use Act of 1978 and the legal principle “Quic quid plantatur solo, solo cedit” (what is affixed on a land belongs to the owner of the land).

At the debate, Chima Anyaso also made several other Trump-style false claims. He claimed that the Ama-Igbere Farmers’ Co-operative Society (1966) rice mill, the largest rice mill in Bende, belonged to his family. He also bragged that the Bende-Item road was built by his family. After investigations, Drum Africa News has confirmed that the Bende-Item road was actually built by Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu.
